Once when my kids where very young my family and I were on a trip. The two kids were in the back seat when all of the sudden my son started yelling and crying hysterically. My wife turned around to see what the problem was and discovered my son had broken a wing off of his toy airplane. He was totally devastate, distraught, depressed and inconsolable. I pulled off at the next rest stop and my son with tears still in his little eyes sobbed, "daddy can you fix it"? I looked at it and discovered it was not that bad, the wing just popped out of joint. I repair it and he was happy; all was right with his world once more. A few weeks later my son and I were driving in the car and again he had his favorite toy plane and once again the wing snapped off. Unlike the last time this happened, he simply looked at me with total confidence and said, "Daddy do it again"!
This is a reminder of how we are to be with our Savior (Daddy). Life is full of brokenness, hearts, dreams, illness, financial crisis, etc. (BROKEN AIRPLANE WINGS) We have all experienced some crisis in our lives. We become depressed, distraught, our lives seem devastated and we come to the end of ourselves where we realize there is nothing we can do to fix the situation. But, as believers we have a Daddy; and Daddy can fix anything. As a last act of desperation we cry out to Him. We give Him our situation to fix and when He fixes it we are once again happy and all is right with the world. But, guess what? Something else is going to "break" or there will be another situation that we can't fix ourselves. This time, instead of going through all the negative, fearful and depressive emotions that we did the first time; we as believers can confidently just hand it over to Daddy and say, "Do it again"!!! |
